5 Tips to Sell your Vehicle for Maximum Dollar

Getting the maximum dollar for your used car is easier than you may think. Just consider what you would like to see when you sent to look at a used car to purchase. What are the things that you will do to check the car?

1. Make sure that the car is clean. Have the car washed and vacuumed out before the purchaser comes to inspect the car. This is the number one item. Don't forget to clean the engine compartment. Without having a clean car for inspection by the purchaser could cause the consumer to offer you up to 50% below what you are asking. Just remember a clean car is a happy car.
2. Check the lights on the car. Make sure all are working properly. This includes any signals that flash, headlights, and market lights. Most times this is as simple as changing bulbs or fuses. If the lights are not working properly it just means that the consumer will have to put in some work on the vehicle to get it to where it should be to operate. Work for the consumer means less money for you.
3. Tune the car up. Change the spark plugs and wires. Have the oil changed. Make sure it is full of fluids. This can usually be performed completely by a mechanic for around $150. This also will ensure that that car is operating properly, and will show to the buyer that the car was taken care of with proper maintenance.
4. Try not to drive the car after you have prepared the car for showings. The more you drive it the more the oil appears dirty, the more the interior will appear to be dirty, the more dirt and grime are on the car, and the less value the car has to the buyer. This will decrease the value of the vehicle to the purchaser decreasing the chances of a successful sale.
5. Before the prospect arrives, double check the car. Go over everything so it is how you would like it. Air fresheners are great to hang inside the car. Don't forget to armor-all the car. The fresher the car smells, and the shinier that the dash and seats are the better appearing the vehicle condition looks to the prospect.
