The SA Aperta qualifies as the most powerful and fastest open Ferrari V12 ever offered. Ferrari decided to build 80 SA Apertas in celebration of Pininfarina's 80th anniversary, the company that has produced some of the world's most exclusive and memorable road-going Ferraris since the 1950s. The car's nomenclature, "SA" pays homage to both Sergio and Andrea Pininfarina , wherese "Aperta" means "open" in Italian.
The SA Aperta is designed as a true roadster and it is not engineered with a full convertible roof in order to preserve its pure roadster outline. Its chassis and powertrain have been planned to achieve the performance expected from such an elite automobile. A chassis structure specially designed for the SA Aperta donates it with stiffness comparable to that of a closed coupe. Ferrari's expertise in transferring racing technology to road cars has headed to in minimal weight addition for the SA Aperta compared to the 599 GTB Fiorano.
Thanks to the 670 hp engine, the SA Aperta beautifully represents the sporty spirit of the 599 GTB, and at the same time, it incorporates Ferrari's most advanced technology to deliver absolutely benchmark performance and superb driving pleasure. The 599-based roadster features the 6.0-litre V12 from the 599 GTO with 661bhp, 457lb ft of torque and performs a 62 mph in a scarcely believable 3.6 seconds.
The majority of the car's body panels come from the 599 GTB Fiorano, although the rocker panels have been altered to accommodate larger brake cooling ducts. The SA Aperta differs from its 599 siblings above the fenders, where designers redesigned the car's pillars, windshield and cabin. The rear interior wall and integrated roll bar gracefully flow into the elongated rear buttresses, while simultaneously echoing shape and color of the sports seats.
There are five color configurations available at the Ferrari website for the SA Aperta: nero stellato, blu elettrico, giallo tristrato, rosso fuoco, rosso Dino. The Nero stellato configuration features chrome rims, rosso corsa brake calipers, sabbia interiors with black straight stretch, ecru' stitching, black passenger zone. Blue elettrico features chrome shadow rims, argento alluminio brake calipers, black interiors with straight stretch, blue central part of the seats & white stitching, blue passenger zone dashboard. Giallo tristrato configuration has black brake calipers, black with yellow interior leather, white stitching, carbon fiber passenger zone dashboard. Rosso Corsa outline includes black brake calipers, black with red straight stretch interior leather, white stitching, argento Nurburgring passenger zone. Lastly, Rosso Dino offers argento alluminio brake calipers, black interior with orange straight stretch, central part of the seat and central panel, black passenger zone.
