In recent news, America's best-selling car in the month of May will be getting some improvements in the way of fuel economy. The Chevrolet Cruze, which sold more than 250,000 units globally in 2011's first four months, is hopping up from 36 to 38 miles per gallon on the highway. This upgrade is set for the 2012 model and derives from an alteration to the axle ratio which will inherently increase gas mileage by approximately five percent.
The Cruze's 1.4-liter turbocharged engine and six-speed automatic transmission has made the car wildly popular with consumer's looking to get the maximum bang for their buck. Chevrolet also offers a six-speed manual option known as the Cruze Eco, which boasts the best fuel efficiency for an American non-hybrid/gas-powered car at an EPA-rated 42 miles per gallon highway.
Americans have been flocking in droves to check out the Cruze due to its incredible value. With standard equipment such as air conditioning, Sirius XM® Satellite Radio, rack mounted electric power steering to save fuel, and more, the car is well equipped for such a small price tag. Chevy has shown dedication to consumer research and the ability to put this data into action.
"Chevrolet is committed to responding to what customers want and making it easier for them. Adding these previously optional features streamlines the ordering process and answers the call of what our customers told us should be standard," commented Rick Scheidt, Chevy's vice president of marketing.
The US is only market that has noticed the Cruze's brilliance. It seems that the entire world is seemingly captivated by Chevy's compact.
"Fueled by a successful launch in the United States and continued growth in China, Chevrolet Cruze is proving to be the right car at the right time. Fuel economy is the top reason customers buy a compact and the Cruze's greater efficiency for 2012 makes it all the more attractive," said Scheidt.
Car buyers who can't wait for the new Cruze to come out should dwell on this: Chevy has released new color choices including Victory Red, Blue Topaz Metallic, and Blue Granite Metallic.
Most savvy car-shoppers will know about Cruze's great gas mileage but what they may now know about is the plethora of safety features that also come standard. Chevrolet offers an incredible ten airbags, patented OnStar crash response technology, and StabiliTrak electronic stability control.
The Chevrolet Cruze will continue to make waves in the affordable sedan segment due to its relentless innovation and commitment to serving customers worldwide.
